Baby’s First Easter + Giveaway / Event

Posted by Courtney Lopez on

I remember my baby’s first Easter like yesterday and I’ll never forget my first days with baby, especially the ones in the hospital! Everyone had tips and tricks to share and soon enough I had my own tips and tricks!

Sweet Baby's Birth Story

I remember looking at her little fingers and toes, rubbing her hair that was basically just her little head, watching her sleep, listening to her little heartbeat from her chest instead of an ultrasound, putting on her teeny tiny clothes and even putting on her first diaper. The hospital gave us Pampers and we loved that they had the wetness indicator. Nurses made me crazy that I wasn’t feeding her enough and she wasn’t wetting her diapers. Eventually my milk came in and that yellow indicator was turning green nonstop.

Talking about milk coming in.. I completely forgot about nursing pads. I remember RUNNING into Babies“R”Us covering myself because I was pretty much leaking all over. I was so mortified but thankfully there was an sweet woman associate who knew just what I was hiding under my folded arms. She led me to the perfect reusable nursing pads that they carry. No more leaky milk, oh boy!

I’ll never forget her poor little skin getting irritated and finding the perfect soothing creams and lotions that made it all better. I really thought I knew everything I needed to know when I had my daughter, but I quickly learned that we’re always learning, even to this day I’m still learning more and more about my sweet girl.

Tips and Tricks for Mom’s First 100 Days with Baby:

  • Start newborns with wetness indicating Pampers Swaddlers. Nurses told me that my daughter wasn’t wetting, but Pampers showed proof she was going!
  • If breastfeeding get nursing pads, nipple cream and it can’t hurt to have some yummy lactation boosting cookies!
  • Fast let down? Over supply? Poor latch? Try a nipple shield, don’t fear it!
  • Prep meals ahead – freezer meals! You’ll be thankful you did this once baby is home.
  • Pack n Play / Playpens are worth every single cent!
  • Swaddle blankets are lifesavers. Calms baby instantly!
  • Babywearing – that is all. I couldn’t live without my baby carriers!
  • Skip the professional photographer, buy a professional camera – learn it and boom professional!
  • Everything goes in the mouth. Baby proof and remain calm if they lick things. My daughter has licked so many disgusting things and she’s just fine.
  • Put diapers everywhere. In your glove box, diaper bag, trunk, mailbox, where ever you think you’ll need a diaper, put one there.
  • Baby wipes aren’t just for bums, we still use them for washing up our toddler on the go.
  • Carry a change of clothing for you too, not just baby. Breastfed poop can get you during a change.. oh joy. Spit up? It happens.
  • Read reviews – I am so picky and want to know if something works well before buying it. Mom’s help out by reviewing the items and I can tell if it’s the item for us.
  • Don’t forget to give daddy time with baby too, he’s a new parent just like you, and we could use a little break here and there.
  • It’s natural for us to have the motherly instinct and snap right into care mode – understand that it may not happen so quickly for daddy.
