Baked Chicken Drumsticks
These oven baked chicken drumsticks are juicy and delicious!
Chicken drumsticks are a great grab and go meal and I love making them for parties! It’s a better portion than chicken wings and my chicken seasoning recipe is full of flavor!
Chicken Seasoning
My seasoning for chicken is easy to make a small batch or big batch! I typically double the batch for a crowd, but one batch is good for our family when making about 6 baked chicken drumsticks. Here’s what you’ll need:
- Parsley
- Paprika
- Granulated Garlic
- Salt
- Pepper
All you need to do is season your drumsticks and get the chicken in the oven. It’s one of our favorite easy chicken recipes and we always make sure we have all the ingredients on hand, best of all these spices are staples in most kitchens. You don’t have to just use this on drumsticks, it’s great on chicken breasts, chicken thighs, chicken wings, and even a whole chicken! We think it’s the best seasoning for chicken.
How to season Chicken
When you’re seasoning chicken legs you want to take special care that each piece is seasoned. We sprinkle the chicken drumsticks with seasonings on the top and the bottom and then we rub the seasonings into the skin/meat. This ensures that each bite will be full of flavor. With chicken drumsticks you want to make sure you’re pulling the skin over the skin and that it’s not all bundled up, this ensures you’ll have crispy baked chicken drumsticks, not soggy chicken skin.
How to bake chicken drumsticks
Place your chicken drumsticks onto a parchment lined baking sheet. You can also do it without parchment, but it’s a mess to clean with all the fat. When placing onto the baking sheet make sure you’re giving your chicken room to cook, if it’s too close together the chicken steam instead of crisp up, that’s how to cook chicken drumsticks that are crispy almost like they’ve been fried. You could even go a step further and use a baking rack this way it cooks all around.
Season your chicken as described above and then place into a 400 degree F oven. This temperature will ensure crispy baked chicken drumsticks.
Bake Chicken Drumsticks for 40-45, 45 minutes is usually how long to bake chicken drumsticks in our oven. You always want to cook your chicken until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees F with an instant-read thermometer. When you’re measuring the temperature of the chicken drumsticks make sure you’re not hitting the bone and just the meat. We usually cook our chicken drumsticks until 180-185 degrees.
We hope you enjoy this recipe just as much as our family does. It’s something my mom used to make and everyone loved. She would usually make this recipe on chicken wings, but we love making it as baked chicken legs this way we get more meat and it’s chicken drumsticks are affordable too!
