best wordpress plugins

While using WordPress for two years we’ve had our ups and downs with wordpress plugins.  We’re going to share the plugins we use and what we believe are the best wordpress plugins.  Plugins can go rogue at any time and we’ve experienced it more than once.  Whenever you see an update available for your wordpress plugins make sure you update them.  Updates are made for a reason, whether it’s a vulnerability or just a minor tweak, they are all updated for good reason and should be updated on your end as well.   If you’re tempted to try a new plugin you should always read the reviews and see how many users.  If there’s little reviews and barely any users, skip it and find a better alternative.

the best wordpress plugins that we use and recommend:

a3 lazy load – this was installed by our tech gal when our site was a bit sluggish on our end.  It really helped speed things up quite a bit!

askimet + en spam – if you’re a blogger who still uses comments you know how annoying spam comments can be.  the combo of askimet and en spam cut down on all the spam comments and save us the hassle of going through thousands of spam comments daily!

easy recipe plus – this is a paid program, but it’s great if you’re a recipe blogger.  You can change the format and style of your recipes individually and even the print format.

pin it button for pinterest – this allows readers to pin the image they want without having to use your social share buttons.  it’s easy for them to just simply click the image and pin!

related posts by zemanta – increase your page views with related posts on the bottom of each of your blog posts.  you can even link to other posts that aren’t your own.

rel nofollow checkbox – many brands want a no-follow link.  google does not like when we use follow links and this plugin makes it effortless to make links nofollow and open in a new window.

revive old post (former tweet old post) – have your old posts published to your social media accounts.  make your old content new with this plugin.

simple share buttons adder – we’ve had a headache with share buttons and so far these are our favorite.  this plugin allows readers to share your posts on their favorite social media accounts.

starbox – star box is an excellent plugin if you have more than one content creator on your site, or if you have contributors.  this plugin will put their information on the bottom of each post that they’ve written.

wordpress seo (by yoast) – add metatags and SEO to each of your posts.  this plugin also includes xml sitemaps and more!

wp super cache – this is the fastest cache plugin we’ve used for wordpress
