These chocolate peppermint cupcakes are SO good. The cake is made from The Best Chocolate Cake Ever recipe which you can find on our site. Topped with creamy buttercream and crushed candy canes making it a holiday hit.
These cupcakes were gone within minutes of putting them out for our guests. We like using a festive cupcake liner like a red one, green one, or even gold and silver. You can use any cupcake liner you want, they only end up in the garbage, but we do like to wow our guests and it’s a fun way to decorate your cupcakes even more than just the frosting and sprinkles. Well, in this case, candy canes. We purchase organic and dye-free candy canes now. They taste the same, just with better ingredients. They’re not healthy since they have sugar still, but the organic candy canes are a natural candy cane over the traditional candy cane.
So all you need is our amazing chocolate cake recipe and then you just need to top these beauties with your favorite buttercream recipe. I go a little low with the frosting since my friends and family don’t like too much icing. I’m not a pile it high type either, but if you are, skies the limit!
When it comes to the frosting, we like to use Whipped Vanilla Buttercream from i am baker.
