There’s one thing I hate about being a mommy.. just one thing.. Taking my daughters temperature. I just hate having to use a rectal thermometer. It’s not comfortable, but her doctor says it’s the most accurate. So I listened to him. I have an ear one for my us, but couldn’t use it on her since her ears are too small. Then I found the Exergen TemporalScanner.
It’s gentle and extremely easy to use. All you have to do is press and hold down the scan button and lightly slide from the center of the forehead to the hairline and make sure to keep in contact with the skin. The Exergen TemporalScanner measures temperature in two seconds by capturing the naturally emitted heat from the skin over the temporal artery which runs across the forehead and is directly connected to the heart via the carotid artery.
At first I was a bit concerned if it would be accurate for my daughter so the best time to test is when I would take her temperature rectally as well. Whenever she gets her shots she always gets a fever. She started to feel warm so I took her temperature rectally and it read 100.7 and with the temporal scanner it was 100.4 which is NOT bad at all. I repeated as needed and kept getting about the same difference. Thankfully I know it is accurate, and now I can just know to add 3 and we’re good!

She squirms and cries for the rectal and I just cannot put her through that. It’s like torture. So now I have a happy baby, who has a happy mommy, and is armed with the best thermometer out there! I absolutely think this is a great gift for babies, baby showers, holidays, and even for your own use! It’s not just for babies, but it does make them more comfortable! You can find the Exergren TemporalScanner at Walmart, Rite Aid Pharamacy, Costco, Sam’s Club, BJ’s, Toys ‘R Us, Babies ‘R Us, Walgreens, drugstore.com, and other retailers!
