How to Make Chocolate Covered Strawberries Kid Friendly recipe on Mini Chef Mondays
For awhile now I’ve wanted to start a fun series with my daughter, but really want to get more than just my daughter involved, I want all kids in the kitchen! I grew up helping out in the kitchen and by the age of 7 I was making dinner all by myself! This blog started off as a baking blog and it took on the form of lifestyle/mom blog. I’m excited to get back to the fun in the kitchen, with my little love! I asked a few of my fellow bloggers about starting a mini cooking series with our kids and I had such a great response that we started Mini Chef Mondays! Each Monday we will be sharing delicious recipes made by our mini chefs!
They’re so easy to make and it makes a great recipe to ease your child into the cooking process!
a few ways to melt the chocolate:
- small sauce pan with a little bit of water, larger glass or stainless steel bowl. boil the water in the pan and dump chocolate into the pan. mix chocolate and once the water is boiling turn it off or keep on low. once the chocolate is fully melted pour into a bowl for dipping.
- candy melting pot
- tempering chocolate – this is a little bit more complex and would be best for the older kids. my daughter wants the chocolate, and she wants it now.
how to prep your strawberries:
It’s important that the strawberries are dry. Wash your strawberries in a large bowl with a little bit of fruit and veggie spray. Drain and rinse your strawberries. Place strawberries onto a cookie sheet lined with paper towel or a clean kitchen towel. Pat them dry before dipping. If your strawberries are wet you risk the chocolate seizing up or even worse, the chocolate not staying on the strawberries.
We prefer to use a quality chocolate, like guittard chocolate.
I just melt the chocolate and then place into a bowl so my mini chef can get to show you how to make chocolate covered strawberries! This was her very first time making chocolate covered strawberries and she did incredibly well. Aside from the chocolate on her sleeve, there was no mess.
