Our lemon butter salmon is the perfect salmon for those who love a rich and flavorful salmon, you just need a few ingredients for this easy baked salmon recipe.
My family loves salmon and this Lemon Butter Salmon recipe is always a hit! I think most agree that lemon butter sauce for salmon is always a hit. Instead of making an actual sauce I cook the salmon with lemon butter right on top in the oven.
How to make Lemon Butter Salmon
I like to make it a little differently than most. Most may just pour the butter over or do large chunks of butter. I don’t want too much butter on top of my salmon, after all, it’s a fatty fish.
To reduce the amount of butter I like to use a microplane to grate or shred the butter right on top of the salmon. You want to make sure the butter is nice and cold, do not use room temperature butter for this. The results are thin butter ribbons which will melt nicely when you go to make baked lemon butter salmon, whereas the large chunks make one soggy butter spot, this gets all over!
We keep the seasonings simple, I use salted grass-fed butter, lemon zest, dried parsley, and a little squeeze of lemon.
Once you squeeze the lemon, do not discard! Place them on the tray and cook them when you bake the salmon in the oven. It will cook down and provide even more juice which you can squeeze more once cooked, careful, it will be hot!
When you check the salmon internal temperature you’ll want to check the thickest part. We cook until the recommended temperature for salmon which is 145 degrees F. How long to cook salmon at 400 degrees will depend on how thick your salmon is, the thicker it is, the longer it will take.
This salmon with lemon butter is a complete hit. You can even put these into parchment or foil-wrapped packets to make your salmon with some veggies in a pouch!
Lemon Butter Salmon is mild for kids to enjoy, I grew up on Lemon Pepper Salmon which can be a little spicy for kids. This salmon is great for the whole family to enjoy. It’s full of flavor, juicy and delicious! In addition to these, we also love my Maple Salmon!
