NJ Pump Gas Law… about to change.. Live in New Jersey Pump Your Own Gas! Running on E and you may have to fill ‘er up yourself! I have never pumped my own gas. Living in NJ it’s actually illegal to pump your own gas, but that law may be changing soon. I saw it this morning on facebook and thought for sure it was a hoax, NJ doesn’t pump their own gas! Unfortunately it’s true. Why unfortunately? Well most NJ residents have NO clue how to pump their own gas. Imagine someone who’s lived in NJ forever and never pumped their own gas and now trying? That freaks me out! Not to mention all the jobs that will be lost.
When Chris and I traveled by car to Florida it was crazy, he had to pump the gas in each state! I was totally weirded out and never realized that we were one of 2 states that don’t pump our own gas. New Jersey and Oregon are the only two states that require attendants to pump gas! The current law states that NJ residents are not permitted to pump their own gas. There will be a 3 year period where the gas merchants can offer self-service gas, but also they must provide full service. I really can’t imagine New Jersey with self-serve gas, can you?! I mean sure it’s happening all over America, but New Jersey is KNOWN for not pumping our own gas. Only time will tell if this law actually passes and we will become — New Jersey Pump Your Own Gas !
In a way it can be could, I will finally learn how to pump my own gas.. However the thought of touching and handling freaks me out. Since I absolutely love cars – it’s only a matter of time that I will have to pump my own gas somewhere, or I can just ask the hubby of course, right?
Either way – job loss will stink, pumping our own gas will stink, but as long as we’re not running out of gas I’m okay!
