I’m always looking for fun ways to play with food.  This rudolph the red nosed reindeer reindeer craft is a great way to incorporate fresh organic produce for those you love during the holiday season!  It should be made the day of giving if possible.  I just love that my daughter can help me make this and know she’s giving someone something she took part in.

First you trace your child’s hand and cut them out.  Then you tape the hands to the back top of the pear

Then let your child pick out the eyes (blueberries) and the nose (raspberry) for the rudolph the red nosed reindpear reindeer

Break some toothpicks in half and insert into the pear

Allow your child to put the eyes and nose onto the pear

We typically only do the one pear as the toothpicks are in it and all.  I think doing just one pear is fine and it really shows the holiday spirit!  You could do the nose on the top of the pear but I found it was easier for my daughter to take part since the pear wasn’t wobbling all over and standing up.

It’s a super simple way to dress up the traditional fruit basket you may or may not already bring for the holiday season.  We’re big into fruits and vegetables and think they make a great holiday gift for those you just can’t think of “what do I get for this person?”  Pair this pear with beautiful seasonal fruit, crackers and cheese!  It makes the perfect hostess gift and your child had a big part in the process!
