My father was one of the stronger men. Losing him was one of the hardest times in my entire life in addition to losing my mother. I was completely and utterly broken, but thankful for the man that I chose to spend my life with. Chris was my rock, my courage, my strength and my hope then and even now. I knew that he was the man I wanted to spend my life with and the man I wanted to create a family with. I knew that because of the strength he showed me, the way he carried me through the toughest times in my life. The way he’ll help our children in the toughest time of their lives.
When we became pregnant it was a ball full of emotions. We were told that I would have trouble conceiving and of course that crushed my heart, but Chris was always there to encourage me. He was always full of optimism! We thankfully became pregnant quick, despite the doctors saying I may even need IVF! We had anticipated a 2 year journey of TTC (trying to conceive). As soon as we got the official “you’re pregnant!” Chris was working harder than ever advancing his career. He always had us as top priority, but used this to even further his drive. He not only got one promotion during our pregnancy, but two! In fact he started his 3rd promotion weeks after our daughter was born.
He puts us first, always has, always will. I’ll never forget when our baby girl would get sick and he would rush home after to make sure she was okay. His personal and sick days were taking her to her allergy appointments, so we can always be there for her as a family. I’ll never forget when I couldn’t handle the doctor cutting her lip tie and I was crying more than our daughter, he was our rock.. I know he was upset, but he never let us know.
Just like my daddy, he rarely let us see him upset. When our daughter was sick with a bad FPIES reaction at 11pm he insisted he go to the ER with us. We were there until 4am and he even went to work at 6am, working until 2pm with just an hour of sleep! I love when he comes home and seeing her light up and run to him screaming, “dada!”. As he pulls up to the house we scream “dada is home”, then we skip outside.
I see the love my daughter has for my husband, the pure joy, the faith and of course the safety, because I feel those all with him too. We’re so incredibly blessed to have him in our life. We really could not ask for more (that’s our wedding song too!). We wish and hope he has an incredible Father’s Day each and every year! I just love that he’s such a strong father, or as she would call him, Dada.
